What do I need to do before my appointment?

First, pick a playroom for your new VR kit. We suggest areas that are free of furniture, pets, and other tripping hazards while experiencing VR.
The technician will not assist in setting up your playroom, so please have this space prepared before the technician arrives – including moving the computer and television into the room. The PC must be completely functional and connected to the Internet (hard-wired preferred over Wi-Fi), prior to installation; all new-PC out-of-box setups and configurations must be completed. If you are upgrading any computer components or software, the latest drivers and software updates must be installed prior to technician arrival.
We also recommend you setup an account with the service supporting your Virtual Reality system and download VR-enabled games or activities to your computer before the technician arrives. This way, the technician will be able to demonstrate the device using VR content.
Due to the size of these files, we suggest you allocate a few hours for the software to download.

What hardware does my computer need to be compatible?

Each VR system will have specific system requirements from the manufacturer. Below are system requirements for the HTC Vive, however the specific brand you purchase may have a different set of requirements which will be displayed on the product’s detail page.

  • Graphics - Minimum requirement is Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent or better, Recommended is NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480, equivalent or better
  • Processor - Intel i5-4590, AMD FX 8350 equivalent or better
  • RAM - 4 GB or more
  • Video Output - 1x HDMI 1.4, or DisplayPort 1.2 or newer
  • USB Port - 1x USB 2.0 or newer port
  • Operating System - Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 or later, or Windows 10

What additional accessories will I need for the appointment?

Setup will require a power source at each base station. If you do not have power outlets at each location, we suggest you purchase power surge strip extension cords capable of suppling power to receivers in opposite corners of the room. You will also need to supply a 3 ft minimum HDMI cable for the VR system to computer connection, and, all HDMI connected Displays, such as a large-screen television, must be converted to DisplayPort using either a DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor (plus existing, or sufficiently long new HDMI cable), or DisplayPort to HDMI cable.

Different VR systems have different space requirements – we suggest you consult with the product information page before your product arrives so you can prepare your space.
